The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (also known as MMLP2) is the eighth studio album by Eminem which was released by Interscope/Aftermath/Shady on November, 5th, 2013. This album is a sequel to The Marshall Mathers LP. Production for the album has taken place since 2011. Guest artists on the album are Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Skyler Grey, Nate Reuss, Sia (Deluxe Edition), and Buckshot (Deluxe Edition). Liz Rodruiguez makes an uncredited appearance on the track Survival. It was executively produced by Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin. Within two weeks it achieved platinum status with over 1,123,000 in the United States.

LeakEdit

Six days before the album was originally set to be released, the Deluxe and normal edition of it was leaked online. This was the first Eminem album to be leaked early. In response to the leaking on the official Shady Records YouTube channel they put out a video saying:

"Due to a massive amount of bootlegging and constant downloading, people are no longer buying CDs so that we can get paid for our f**king work. They're just continuing to get songs for free... putting music retail in a tremendous slump, causing artists such as myself to get make money for record sales and be forced to tour, causing more stress, arguments with my wife, not being able to see my kids, drink more, take more pills, punch more people in the face, hate the world and end up in rehab! "This has been a PSA in an excuse to vent by Marshall Mathers. Not that I wouldn't have done the same thing if I could get music for free when I was a kid, but now that I rap for a living, buy my god damn CDs!"

This comes from an older skit.

SalesEdit

The album sold 792,000 copies in it's first week. It marks Eminem's seventh consecutive Number 1 ranked album on various music charts. It came second in sales for 2013 only behind Justin Timberlake's 20/20 Experience. In its third week since its release, the album returned to number 1 on the Billboard 200 bringing its total of sales to 1,123,000 in the United States also giving it platinum status.
